India’s new education policy to meet the aspirational goals of 21st Century Education is now being implemented with the active participation of all stakeholders.
Both at the School and Higher Education levels, NEP envisages multidisciplinary and holistic education based on a flexible and innovative curriculum and pedagogy with no hard separation between arts, humanities and sciences. The School Education has new 5+3+3+4 pedagogical and curricular restructuring whereas the Higher education has 4-year Undergraduate Course with multiple entry-exit options and flexible Master’s Programme.
The new method will ensure that the generation-next has maximum space for cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary thinking to equip themselves to play their unique role as true global citizens with Indian tradition and values.
Broadly, the NEP brings sweeping reforms and reconfiguration of the education system in its entire framework - Structural, Regulatory and Governance. It re-establishes teachers at all levels and has also devised methods to achieve seamless integration of and coordination across institutions and across all stages of education.
The fragmentation of higher education will end. Large multidisciplinary universities, colleges, Higher education Institution clusters/ Knowledge hubs will be formed. Affiliated colleges will be phased out through the new system of graded autonomy. There would be a transparent system of graded accreditation. Autonomous degree-granting colleges could evolve into Research intensive or Teaching Intensive Universities, if they so aspire.
The First Edition of our NEP conference focuses on the theme: Knowing NEP- Reclaiming India’s status as Viswaguru- Global Study Destination and Global Knowledge Superpower”
It gives us immense pleasure to invite all delegates to the event. We sincerely believe that the event will be professionally enriching, the discussions will be translated into practical use and this would build much needed relationships with stakeholders from different fields and sectors of education, research and skill development.
